Fait accompli!

Yeah! Finally completed it. As I meandered through the maze I came across many new things and am slightly wiser for it. But in reality how many hours are there in a day. That means something else has to go... to find time to spend on the computer so to really appreciate what web 2 has to offer.

Well it really is a nice sunny day outside...I think I prefer to enjoy this instead!

Week 9 - Podcasts, video and ebooks

Well You Tube such a vast amount of infinity...one could go on forever. Wasn't successful in down loading a video clip on my blog. I guess I need step by step instructions.

So the next best thing...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ0CFXSh_iY

right in the middle of this cold weather what do we all want to do??? I can see the appeal of you tube as it is quick to access and get a video clip.

Podcasts...well at least you tube is quick and easy to find something....podcasts didn't really appeal...may be if there was more time I might come across something interesting.

E-books...well nothing better than holding a hard copy in your hands...to take anywhere anytime....and take as longas you like to read it. Maybe kindle will help...but ultimately it still costs alot. Possible the y and z generation will enjoy this better as they are more intuned with starring at a screen and can spend hours and hours at this.

When it all becomes relatively free in the wider market,e.g. online libraries a wider audience may be captured.

week 8 - online application and tools

Zoho writer- really useful for writing group documents and good to have if you are travelling around the world and you can access your document at any computer. Neatto havethereallive environmentwhen a group of you are working on the document...and it would speed things up to complete the piece of work.

week 7 - social networking

Yes, I've started to explore...social networking has it's place in the world, ... another form of communicating. It's here to stay so it is good to know it exists. One day when the need arises, I will actively use it.

Bebo (Auckland Libraries) - http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MID=367137231&MemberId=4428799413

Visited this site...what can I say..who visits this site on Bebo (only people who are working their way through this programme)...is it a matter of too many things to do and not enough time to do them. I couldn't find any recent additions to this site...these things only work if they are kept alive...so much wastage in cyberspace!

I am sure Bebo in general is a wonderful tool for the young people to communicate and keep in touch. Yes, it probably is a good way to keep in touch with others on the other side of the world and when you're travelling. But ...will verbal communication become extinct? What will happen if some crazy person hits the "destroy" button and cyperspace just disapppears...I guess the rest of the world will too!

My space - http://www.myspace.com/

Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/

Hennipenn County Library - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Minnetonka-MN/Hennepin-County-Library/7223112325?ref=s

Well.. I guess their worklife is too busy and they just didn't get back to it. Apart from the video clip the site was kind of sparse. Voted the most boring site on the web!

Week 6 - tagging, folksonomies, technorati

Technorati...yes ummm it does bring lots of sites, hyperlinks and other peoples thoughts and opinions all in one place, there must be thousands of this type of site on the web. Looked at books that those who use technorati.com ...the top 5 are I guess 'Mills and Boon' type romances, then what to do with your credit cards, shopping and other strange titles...does that reflect the type of people who have time to spend on these sites???

What Technorati says......"tags are what the writer is telling readers their articles are about. At Technorati, we see hundreds of thousands of tagged posts per day.
As you’d expect, our new tag pages provide blog posts from across the Blogosphere. In addition you'll find all kinds of other tagged content including blogs, videos and photos. The tag trend charts now allow comparison so you can compare any given tag to any other. Finally, we've created space for bloggers and blog readers to discuss how the tag influences the Blogosphere, and original articles detailing and defining the tags, authored by category experts from Technorati's sister site, Blogcritics. We invite you to both discuss the tags as well as author a tag article by becoming a BlogCritic."

So hey..those new to the wider neverending cyberspace become a blog critic today!!!

Delicious - http://del.icio.us/)Del.icio.us

If you ever wondered what is was all about...out of the 'horse's mouth..."What is Delicious?
Delicious is a social bookmarking service that allows users to tag, save, manage and share web pages from a centralized source. With emphasis on the power of the community, Delicious greatly improves how people discover, remember and share on the Internet. "

Things you can do with Delicious :
* Bookmark any site on the Internet, and get to it from anywhere
* Share your bookmarks, and get bookmarks in return
* Discover the most useful and interesting bookmarks on the web

Well I have joined up to delicious and added bookmarks...yes, I can see the usefulness of this site if you want to use it anywhere in the world...but like anything if you don't use it you loose it...the big question is...will I remember my username and password the next time I log into Delicious???
